Liao Kai Ro (Liao Kai Jou, 廖凱柔) is a Taiwanese filmmaker, artist and actress currently based in Berlin.

After completing her degree in Political Science at National Taiwan University, she finished her second bachelor degree majoring in film under the guidance of Adina Pintilie at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg HFBK. Her short film "They Disappear, I Disappear" (2023) was selected for the 40. Kasseler Dokfest and nominated for Junges Dokfest A38-Produktionspreis Kassel-Halle. Her earlier work, "Otter Space" (2016), gained international recognition, including at the Osaka Short Film Festival and the Youth Film Festival in Taiwan. Recently, she starred in the feature film "Sleep With Your Eyes Open," directed by Nele Wohlatz, which was awarded the FIPRESCI Prize at the 2024 Berlinale Encounters. 

Kai also plays piano, wooden flute, and occasionally guitar with the punk band Brezel Göring & Psychoanalyse, and teaches Mandarin to children.
